There’s a newly resurfaced video of former State Rep. Justin Pearson (D-Memphis), who is in the process of trying to be reinstated to his position in government, that brings a new light on the current image he’s portraying to the media.

The video featured is Pearson’s campaign speech for student body president during his time at Bowdoin College (2013-2017).

However, there’s something very different about Pearson in the flashback video.

Besides his hairstyle change, Pearson’s change of accent is glaringly obvious.

Watch the video below and compare the two versions of Pearson:

Alex Hensley, who appears to be white and claims to be Pearson’s deputy campaign manager, told KWAM, “These are both Justin. Have you ever been to a Black church? It sounds like you’re telling on yourselves.”

Besides the obvious change in his way of speaking, it’s worth noting that Bowdoin College costs roughly $75,000 to attend per year. That differs from the poverty-stricken, oppressed minority narrative that Pearson has been pushing during his time in office.
