Soaring Memphis Murder Rate on Track to Break Record

KWAM’s Mike Williams Host of ‘Behind the Badge,’ tells ‘Wake Up Memphis’ with Robyn Walensky the city of Memphis is on track to have one of the worst years on record in terms of homicides.

“We’re at about 200 homicides right now,” Williams tells ‘Wake Up Memphis,’ “and we still have four months to go, we’re going to blow the number out of the water this year, there’s no doubt about it, unfortunately.”

Tennessee Governor Republican Bill Lee is cracking down on violent protesters, who will now be facing felony charges and will then not be able to vote if convicted.

Williams tells Walensky “when it gets to the point where you’re tearing up people’s property, you’re hurting innocent citizens, you’re putting police officers’ lives in jeopardy, that’s when it becomes a major problem for me.”

You can listen to Mike’s show every Saturday on KWAM at 2 PM CST.
