“This evening, at approximately 6:14 PM, CPD was checking a suspicious vehicle in the 10337 E. Shelby Drive area,” the police department said in a statement. “One of the individuals fled from the vehicle and ran inside the business and a disturbance occurred. A CPD officer was assaulted during the incident and sustained a minor laceration to his face. One suspect was taken into custody and charged with assault on a law enforcement officer. This investigation is ongoing and updates will be provided as the investigation precedes.”
