David Page (D), a candidate in Thursday’s special election primary for the Tennessee House of Representatives District 86, told KWAM he’s facing strong opposition within his party.

Page told “Wake Up Memphis” Monday he’s received “minor threats” and “name calling” for challenging State Rep. Justin Pearson.

Pearson was recently sent back to Nashville after being kicked out of his seat for breaking House decorum rules earlier this year.

The West Memphis educator said that if elected, he’ll restore “respect” in the District 86 position.

“We need to get back to respect,” he told KWAM hosts’ Ben Deeter and Todd Starnes.

Page said voters have the opportunity to swap out the “straight clowning” by Person with his steady leadership.
