A Helena-West Helena police officer was gunned down in the line of duty Thursday night.
Officers had spotted a suspect in a November 1 shooting in a car outside the Delta Inn on Highway 49 in Arkansas. The suspect reportedly jumped out of the car and began firing shots. One of the officers was hit.The police department has not released the name of the officer.
The suspect has been identified as Latarius Howard. He is believed to be traveling in a maroon SUV.
