If you heard loud pops into the wee hours of the New Year’s Day celebrations, those were gunshots, not firecrackers.
The Memphis Police Department told WMC-TV, they received 609 unconfirmed “shots fired” calls from between 9:00 p.m New Year’s Eve until 6:00 a.m New Year’s Day.
MPD said over 357 fired shots came from two areas in North and South Memphis.
