Nearly 90,000 residents are still without electricity after strong storms ripped through the Mid South Sunday.

MLGW gave an update on the power crisis Monday but gave no timetable for when power would be fully restored.

“We’ve got a big area to look at all of the damage, so we’ll have a better estimate of how long and how much effort it will take to get everyone restored,” MLGW CEO Doug McGowen said. “Today, we’re still dealing with pretty broad outages.”

According to the power company, the power outage is the sixth worst in Memphis history and are encouraging citizens to conserve water.

McGowen said residents could go without power for at least three days or possibly longer, but when pressed by reporters he said he could not give them a timetable.
