MLGW lifted its “Electric Conservation Alert” Wednesday after the utility company issued an alert Tuesday- calling on customers to cut back on power.
MLGW President Doug McGowen praised customers for their swift action, crediting them for avoiding the possibility of rolling blackouts.
“Thanks to all our customers who took action to conserve electricity,” McGowen said in a statement released on social media. “Together, we navigated the highest all-time peak demand the TVA system has seen.”
McGowan added: “MLGW electric, gas and water systems have performed well in these conditions – a special thanks to the MLGW team who has worked hard to keep our customers safe and comfortable.”
