Spending $5 million in taxpayer funds to study and create reparations for black citizens in Shelby County is “flawed and immoral,” said conservative commentator and KWAM contributor Jordan Carpenter.

“We learned a lot about the commissioners last night,” Carpenter told “Wake Up Memphis” with guest host Steve Gill Thursday, “and not all of it is good.”

Shelby County Commissioner Britney Thornton, a progressive Democrat, said she was triggered by a white Republican commissioner’s whiteness.
“I own the fact that today your whiteness triggered me because it is actually an identity that I recognize postures you differently from me. It comes from privileges that I simply do not have,” the black commissioner said during the contentious meeting.“We’ve got to stop with the oppression Olympics,” Carpenter said.
