Shelby County has 99 problems, but crime isn’t one of them, according to the new Shelby County Commission chairwoman – Miska Clay Bibbs.

In an email sent out last week, Clay-Bibbs detailed a lengthy list of challenges facing the county and solutions meant to address them — noticeably missing, tackling crime!

Full email below:

Hello, constituents of Shelby County! My name is Miska Clay Bibbs, Chairwoman of the Shelby County Board of Commissioners, and I am elated to have been elected to lead this legislative body and District 11. My peers and I have worked diligently and effectively to bring necessary change to our county, the county — Shelby County.

In my role as Commissioner, I’ve set groundbreaking achievements such as advocating for infrastructural change at Regional One, reinstating TN State Rep. Justin Pearson, supporting our reparations study and Minority, Women Owned and Business Enterprise policy.

My expectations as Chairwoman are lead in the same capacity while exhibit integrity, tenacity and representation for all.

KWAM station owner Todd Starnes questioned the chairwoman’s priorities.

“So crime is not going to be a priority for the new chairman?” Starnes wrote.

Outspoken conservative commentator Justin Johnson chimed in on social media.

“I guess that crime isn’t an issue?!? If we could find a way to not have an average of 300+ homicides a year and make criminals accountable that would be nice. But that’s just my opinion,” Johnson wrote.
