A Memphis Circle K gas station manager told local media her store gets hit with theft every day — totaling 17,000 short on inventory.

Store manager Melanie Jackson was responding to a media report on a man arrested for eating two bags of stolen chips earlier in February.

“People come in here daily on a daily basis stealing, they think that is okay,” Jackson told WREG. “My inventory is 17,000 short on people coming in here stealing.”

For Jackson, it wasn’t just about the stolen goods. Her concern was the future of her store.

“Kroger left because they were stealing, the mall left because they were stealing, the Walmart left because they were stealing,” she told WREG. “So if everybody is gone, what are you going to do when Circle K decides we’re fed up?”
