New Poll: Majority Of Memphians ‘Undecided’ in Mayoral Race

A majority of Memphians do not know who they want to serve as the next mayor, according to a new poll.

Twenty-six percent of likely voters said they are “Undecided” in a new poll conducted by Emerson College for WREG-TV.

Former Memphis mayor Willie Herenton led the pack of 17 candidates, followed by Downtown Commission President Paul Young at 14%.

Shelby County Sheriff Floyd Bonner and former TV Judge Joe Brown tied at fourth with 10%.

Early voting begins September 15.

The poll also found that 69% percent of Memphis voters say the city is on the wrong track and the top issue in the mayoral race is combating crime.
