President Trump jumped into the national debate about whether saluting the flag is racist.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was attacked by the Black Lives Matter crowd for saying that he would never agree with someone “disrespecting the flag of the United States of America.”

Several black NFL players condemned the well-respected quarterback — calling him “retarded.” He was also told to “shut the f*** up.”

Brees later apologized. Click here to read that story.

President Trump called out the quarterback on Twitter – saying he should’ve stood his ground.

“I am a big fan of Drew Brees,” the president wrote. “I think he’s truly one of the greatest quarterbacks, but he should not have taken back his original stance on honoring our magnificent American flag.”

Fox Sports host Shannon Sharpe was one of the most outspoken critics of Brees.

“Drew, I don’t know what you was thinking,” he said. “I don’t know what you hoped to accomplish, but whatever you have to hoped to accomplish it failed miserably, Black people have been fighting for this country even though they did not get the rights that their flag said … if the black man doesn’t have the same freedoms and liberty as the white, what good is the flag?”

The president said Old Glory “is to be revered, cherished and flown high.

“We should be standing up straight and tall, ideally with a salute, or a hand on heart,” he wrote. “There are other things you can protest, but not our Great American Flag – NO KNEELING!”
