Tennessee Speaker of the House Cameron Sexton (R) told KWAM Monday former State Reps. Justin Pearson (D-Memphis) and Justin Jones (D-Nashville) will get their seats back if their city governments appoint them.
“Yeah, I mean if they want to send them back that’s their prerogative, they’ll be seated,” Sexton told “Wake Up Memphis.” “If that’s the direction that they want to go, that’s their direction and who they want to represent then they’ll be seated.”
Nashville city leaders have vowed to send Jones back to his seat. Meanwhile, Shelby County commissioners have tabled the discussion to appoint Pearson to the empty seat for Wednesday. We will allow @Justinjpearson and @brotherjones_ to be re-seated in the House if Shelby County and Nashville send them back. – @CSexton25 on @Mighty990KWAM #insurrectionists

Pearson would need a 7-vote majority to send him back to Nashville, which is more than likely due to the Democrat-controlled commission. However, some commissioners have claimed the state has threatened retaliation by yanking funding for the city.
Sexton denied the allegation.“I called the mayor, I called all the representatives, nobody knows where [the accusation] came from, but that’s just not factual,” Sexton said.
