White students are not allowed to visit an off-campus dorm designated for people of color at the University of California in Berkeley.
The “Person of Color Theme House” is a co-op that provides housing to low-income, first generation, immigrant and marginalized students of color.The housing development is a private venture not affiliated with the university.
“Guests are allowed in common spaces, but please be mindful if there are house members in the room beforehand. White guests are not allowed in common spaces,” one of the online rules states. “Avoid bringing parents/family members that express bigotry. Queer, Black and Indigenous members should not have to avoid common spaces because of homophobic or racist parents/family members.”

The owners of the housing complex seem to be unfazed at the blatantly racist policy.
“Many POC members moved here to be able to avoid white violence and presence, so respect their decision of avoidance if you bring white guests,” the rules state.
White people are permitted to visit the dormitory’s commons area — but only if certain criteria are met.“Always announce guests in the Guest Chat if they will be in the common spaces with you and if they are white,” the rules state.
So what happens if a white person who identifies as a black person shows up for supper?
