Mark Billingsley issued a stark warning for Shelby County hot off his announcement that he plans to return to county government: “People are voting with their taillights, they are leaving and I want them to have better opportunities in Shelby County for young and old.”
Billingsley, who formerly served on the Shelby County Commission, announced his plan Monday morning on KWAM to run for a seat on the County Commission, District 4.
“Our community is faced with tremendous challenges in public safety, education, healthcare and economic prosperity and I know we can work together to provide a better quality of life for all of us,” Billingsley told KWAM host Ben Deeter. All 4 current Republican Shelby County Commissioners are termed limited and cannot run for reelection.
Billingsley said he hopes to work with other Republican candidates to pick up gains on the County Commission which favors Democrats.
“All Shelby County residents deserve better and they should demand more common sense and real accountability from their elected officials, no matter their party affiliation,” he added.
